Prolapsed Discs

Sharing Stories About Your Experiences - Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment

I've spoken recently to a few people who have been diagnosed with a prolapsed disc problem but also Fibromyalgia. I knew little of this condition so decided to do some research and found a really good website. Hopefully it helps explain the condition and possible help.

This text is taken from the UK Fibromyalgia website:

http://www.ukfibromyalgia.com/

"FMS (fibromyalgia (fi-bro-my-Al-juh) syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the fibrous tissues in the body.

The pain comes from the connective tissues, such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. FMS does not involve the joints, as does rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages."

There is a lot more information contained on the website about the condition and about its treatment. I hope you find it helpful.

Hi Jude

This is useful info, there is many other knock on effects that comes with FM.

eg: Chronic Fatigue, IBS, bladder weakness, aggrevated bowel, sweating, itching and the list goes on. It is different for everyone, like everything! lol

Any way, if I can answer or help with anything please feel free to ask or let others know.

Hi Jude,

Hope you well and life ticking along ok for you.

A while ago, we spoke about vitamins etc! Do you remember?

I had read on the FMS site, that vitamin B1 is suggested.

Well, I decided to give it a go! Have been taking it now for gosh...................must be a good few weeks and not sure what to say!

Nothing has got worst unless triggered by illness, weather (yes, I didnt believe this one until the cold weather kicked in) or generally over doing it.
But I'm going to continue to take and hopefully after a while I can let you know more.

Love you Hun, Rx
