Hi Leah

I'm so so glad you got that second opinion, well done you!!!! I really hope they can help you. Please be aware though that they shouldn't prolong physio treatment if it isn't making any difference to your condition. There are alternative therapies out there and of course the last resort of an operation.

Try to stay strong hon, at least now you're being listened to and your previous treatment really has been disgusting.

I'm glad you don't feel alone, that's why I set up this group. I'm no expert at all, I'm just a fellow sufferer who understands how crap this condition really is.

Love n hugs and good luck with everything

Hi Leah,

Welcome to the group hon. I'm so sorry to hear about your long term suffering. Mike is right, the longer they leave you the worse it will get. I've had a micro discectomy and although mine wasn't successful, I know plenty of people for whom it has been successful.

You'll find info on this site about what a micro discectomy is all about which you might find helpful.

The biggest thing we all seem to find on here is the lack of progress of the NHS. We all seem to have to nag them into taking action. Try to be strong verbally with them hon, get them to help you. You can't go on suffering like this.

If I can help you at all, just send me a message.

Love n hugs

Jude (I set up this site originally as a fellow sufferer) xxx

Babe physio is not going to do anything for you. What disk has gone out? l4-l5 l5-s1? sounds from the symptoms a large central herniation. Numbness and weakness are a bad sign. I never had numbness or weakness. Do you have a husband/boyfriend, friend or family member who can go with you when you go to the doctors? do you have the mri scan on a cd rom?

my pain levels have reduced in the last 10 months to about a 1 out of 10 just got light tingling. May consider op if this don't go. Steroid injections are a waste of time and don't address the problem. Work is being done of injecting your own stem cells into the disk. This is in the trial stage and i might see if i can get on the trial cus i would prefer this instead of some 50-60 year old surgeon cutting into me!
I really think you need to be treated ASAP. From your photo you are too pretty to be stuck with having to carry around a bag around for your bowels and bladder or be stuck in a wheelchair or both you might already have damage that cannot be repaired. I am not trying to scare you but this is possible if you leave it too late. If you go to A&E and they don't treat you then say you will sue them if you end up bowel/bladder incontinent or in a wheelchair, see how quickly they will treat you then. Seriously you are too young to be stuck with that and cures for cauda equina syndrome are at least 10 years away as long as you have plenty of $$$ other wise you would be stuck, so try and get treatment straight away before it is too late.

yes am suffering from prolapsed disk just have minor tingling, nothing like you are suffering. How long of you been suffering? If you are having problems with your bladder and severe weakness in your leg you need to have the operation ASAP. Get down to the hospital and demand to be seen.

The surgeon should of operated on you straight way, sounds like you have cauda equina syndrome the longer they leave it the worse it will get, you may be bladder and bowel incontinent and be paralyzed from the waist down
