At 11:57pm on February 11, 2009, Leah said…: Well i went 2 a new doctor 2day 4 a 2nd opinion!! She was disgusted bout how i was bein treated!! She said i shud have had surgery when de epidural didnt work n de fact dat ive saddle anesthesia n weak legs! Ive noticed dat my left leg seemed smaller so she measured it n my left calf muscle is 1 inch smaller than de right!! Muscle wastage!!! She said its a disgrace dat dey left a 27 yr old girl suffer like this!! She gave me difene,1 twice a day,detrusitol,1 at nite,and nortem,1 at nite,paracetamol,two 4 times a day.....just 2 start me off n see how i get on wit dem!! She rang de physio i was supposed 2 go n see n my files wernt even fowarded on yet.....dey never heard of me....so de physio was off 2day but is back in 2moro so shes gonna ring n find out de whole story.Il probably get traction,massage,exercises n put on a tens machine! De new doc wants me 2 try de physio 2 see if it helps in any way n if not she wants me 2 have immediate surgery!! Im so glad i went 2 get a 2nd opinion....finally sum1 believes me n wants 2 do sumting bout it!!! I dont have a copy of de MRI'S but will look in2 gettin it! Its both discs .....L4-L5....L5-S1......but L5-S1 is de most damaged!!! Thank u so much 4 ur advice n most of all 4 understandin n takin de time 2 write back 2 me!!! Hopefully il have more good news in de nxt few days....fingers crossed!!!!

It's no fun is it, never mind the pain, sometimes it's the constant fighting of the NHS system that does your head in more.

At 1:39am on February 7, 2009, Leah said…: Hey....so i finally got de letter from de surgeon! He's sendin me 2 a physio who specializes in spine injury!!!! Now i have 2 wait on an appointment!! Went 2 my GP n explained dat my symptoms wer gettin worse n he said sumtimes we feel worse b4 we get better!!!!!!!! I think dat sumtimes ur head wud need 2 be hangin off b4 dey wud do anything!!!

Was 2 busy tourin wit de shows n took painkillers 2 ease de pain! didnt get 2 sleep till 7am this mornin,de pain was cruel n tingling n severe hip pain...plus de postman never arrived 2day either! I rang de surgeons secretary though n she got my results this morn but was 2 busy at de time 2 tell me anything n said she'd ring back but she didnt bother herself! im still havin bladder problems n both my legs are extremely weak 2day!!! I really shud go 2 A&E but is it really dat big of an emergency?? im afraid dey'd just send me home n say its part of de symtoms of prolapsed discs n then id feel like such an eejit!! But then again i dont want 2 be doin more damage! il see if i get de results 2moro n if not i think its time 2 take urgent action myself!!! Ur lucky u havent got 2 de bad stages yet!!! Its no joke n nobody understands how much pain ur in! even my parents dont understand....dey wud be givin out if i dont get outta bed in de morn even though i try 2 explain de fact dat i cant move...but dey just tell me 2 get up n do sumting n stop bein lazy.....well ....dat really frustrates me!!! if dey cud just experience my pain n discomfort for 5 mins!!! Any ways hopefully il get sum sleep 2nite n a letter in de post in de morn!! have u had any treatment urself yet???

His secretary told me dat my mri was left on his desk last tues (1 wk 2moro) but neither myself or my GP has heard anything back! Rang his secretary n she said he still hasnt had time 2 look at dem n dat it was outta her hands n dat id just have 2 wait n get a letter in de post!! I lost all power in my left leg a few days ago n cudnt get outta bed 2day wit de pain....was stuck in de 1 position n cudnt move....really fed up now!! Hope de postman comes in de mornin!!! Are u sufferin from prolapsed discs urself????

I have searched de net 1000's of times n have come up wit de same conclusion.its an emergency i know but why wud my surgeon be so relaxed bout de whole thing? i just dont get it! Hes a top orthopedic surgeon up here in de northwest n ive seen him many times b4 for broken bones n also had a bone removed from my leg! As a dancer,a broken bone is as common as a headcold! Ive had 8 already! anyway i just dont no wot 2 do....i rang his secretary on fri but she said he was very busy,hasnt looked at de mri yet n dat he'd send me a letter of de results!
