Just joined out of interest to read about success rates of natural healing and surgeries.
I got a prolapsed disc waking up after playing tennis in the evening when I was quite tired. I have been an avid player for years so the theory that my disc injury is down to wear and tear is probably right (I'm 43).
Over the last 3 months I've had various alternative therapies and two cortizone injections, which have helped a wee bit (but not enough, especially as still having days when it feels as bad a…

Hi all, just joined today. Its sad to see so many with the same sort of problems, but I have been told its good to share!
Reading through and seeing some with recurring or long term problems fills me with trepidation, for my own small problem. It first started with the dreaded swine flu, I had most of the symptons, but not the temperature. At its height I had a sneezing fit, and hey presto, I had a prolapsed disc. This was in August 2009.
I was taken to hospital with suspected torn cartiledge in…

Hi Everyone
Have been looking at all your experiences with back issues. So sad to hear all of your stories.
I hurt my back in May 09. MRI showed disc bulge at L4 and a herniation at L5/S1 inpingeing on the nerve. I have been in alot of pain in the beginning. I couldn't move much for a month. The pain in my back was unbearable. I have never experienced pain like that. Sciatica was of and on and seem to dissapear for a few weeks. The backpain was terrible. Had 14 sessions of physio only ultrasou…

Hi ladies and gents
Thanks to one and all for joining, contributing and supporting each other on this social network site. As you know I set this site up quite a while ago now and from a personal point of view, I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
I'll try to keep my update as brief as possible (but I waffle a lot lol). As some of you know I've been a fellow sufferer since November 2007 and I had a micro discectomy in May 2008 for a prolapsed disc L5/S1 which affected my left leg and foot.
In July…

I herniated my disc, L1 S1, and the sciatic nerve is pinched, this happened last May, so I have had this for 16 months. Originally I couldn't walk for about two months and thought I would never get better, I used crutches for about six months and the pain seemed to subside but was still there. I take Co- dydromol for the pain and I take Amitriptyline for nerve pain as the nerve is trapped on what my doctor says is a very large herniation.
I have good and bad days, i cannot bend to take food out…

Thought it was time to update the saga now I've had all the results of the latest X-rays, MRI Scans and Physio reports back and discussed them with the consultant Neurosurgeon last week.
The news isn't good, my spine is twisitng, most likely due to the number of ops I've had on it over the years ( 4 microdiscectomy's now plus 2 steroid injections ) and wear and tear at the op sites. Basically, my lower back is so weak I have little or no control over it and cannot prevent further disc prolapses…

I am so glad have found this site - maybe I can get some proper answers. I have had an MRI and was told that there is a disc prolapse at L5/S1 , partial fusion at L4-L5 and also facet joint degenerative disease in lower lumbar spine. I am in complete agony on the right hand side of my body and there is no nerve compression but am still in a,lot of pain. An operation has been ruled out and have been seeing a chiropractic and she was treating me for Sacral Iliac syndrome but pains are worse than e…

Hi everyone
I have been back at work now for six weeks (on a phased return, but now back full time). Unfortunately, I sit at a computer all day long, and although I try to get up and walk around as much as possible, I end each day in a lot of pain down the back of my leg - along the nerve. I am in pain most of the day and very uncomfortable all evening - unable to settle. I am at my wits' end.
I opted in the end for the microdiscectomy to ease the pain, and although the pain is nothing like it…

im in so much pain today after my physical examination to which the specialist aplologised for giving me the physical as he should have checked the mri first.
This is the abnormality compared to first scan done that mri scan pic…
